Communities are confronting increasingly complex adaptive dilemmas—challenges that defy our practiced responses, or longings for a future that we can imagine but can’t yet create. Now more than ever we must evolve beyond what we already know, and learn together how to access a deeper wisdom—collective wisdom—in support of profound change and sustained transformation.
Instead of being guided by collective wisdom, however, systems and communities often regress into collective folly, failing to achieve even modest results despite great urgency and need. Just when the stakes are highest, groups can feel the weight of historical burdens and fears dragging us back into structures and ways of acting we know will not get us where we want to go, but find ourselves returning to nevertheless.
This is our abiding passion: to help systems and communities learn how to more reliably access collective wisdom—and resist the undertow of collective folly—to achieve and sustain profound results, and experience greater joy and generosity even amid the complexity and challenges of their work.
